News From Brasil - Summer 2010

Simone wrote and gave us an update of what is going on in Brasil right now.
They are enjoying their summer vocation, riding bikes, visitng and playing basketball. The kids from our project are gone for the summer break. Many kids from our project drop out after we left Brasil. We knew that some of them had plans to look for another basketball program to continue playing, but we were surprise for the other group that just quited going and being involved. The total number of kids that dropped out is about 80%. Our prayer is that Simone (picture) and Priscila would involve the younger kids (4th and 5th graders) for this year. They plan to begin in the last week of February.

Simone has been also involved with the city sports vocation program which involves kids 2nd -9th graders in sports and fun games. In this picture she is sharing the gospel with her group of kids using the colors bracelete.

Space Needle and Science Center

We had a great day visiting Seattle. We spent the day with Debbie, Sidney and Ashley. The Sciene Center was o interesting and we watched an IMAX movies and saw the stars. Our friends went p in the Spae Needle while we watched a gospel choir.

First Time in the Snow

Our friends from Brazil Buga, Sabrina and Thomas got to see snow for the first time! It was a fun day of sledding at Mt Baker. They did not get to see it actually snowing but it had just snowed so it was fresh snow. It as not too cold either for everyone. Sabrina wanted to make a snow angel and then build a snowman. They all went down on the sleds. They all would have liked to hae tried to ski but not possible this time.

Family Walk

Saturday before all the game we took a family walk to the Geneva pond. It was so pretty. Thomas was still with us.

Christmas Time a Time to Share

Susan had Jessica and Stephanie's basketball team from the (boys & girls club) here in our home before Christmas. They had a fun time doing a Christmas project, eating some treats and listening to a Christmas story about Jesus. Ro gave each boy on his basketball team from (boys & girls club) a t-shirt from the teams in Brasil with a christmas message.

Ronaldo & Sabrina and Thomas came to visit us here in US. They are here for the month. They a friends and help out a lot with AeA sports activities, they are faithful vollunteers. This is their chance to come to US so we are happy to host them this time.

Thomas is going to school with Timothy and we hope he can improve his Enlgish, we think he likes it so far.
