Hanging Out

The kids and I are here at our house while Rogerio is gone. I can not drive the van because I need a bus license so we are home. What have we been doing?? I do not have our camera or I would share some pictures.

Watching lots of soccer world cup games not only Brazil but others.

This morning I was picking oranges from our tree to make juice

Timothy had the idea from some of his Washington friends to make guns out of wood. All the kids have been making them and playing all kinds of games with them. Timothy tried to wear his camoflauge stuff from his friend Hayden but just too hot here.

Rebeca follows everyone around. She and Jessica like to sit at their table and color. Rebeca still calls everyone mom especially Jessica and me.

I finished one of the Yada Yada Prayer Group books. Now I am reading the Shack. I know that it is contraversal. I wanted to read it becausee Brazil is where the book is selling the best. I actually am finding it really interesting.

Making three meals of day for the group. I have to get use to that again!

I read the verse the other day from Paul who reminds us to be content in every circumstance. Phillipines 4:11-13. In some circumstances it is easier to be content but the command is the same. As the kids and I adjust to living here in Brazil we all need to remember this verse.

Rogerio is Sao Paulo

Rogerio and the volleyball team are now in Sao Paulo playing games. From what we hear the team is having a great tour and getting to share with many players. It is amazing what you share just after playing a volleyball game. Here is his blog site

Rogerio in Rio de Janerio

Rogerio left this morning about 5:15. He already wrote saying that he arrived safely. The American team also arrived. They are staying in a training center with lots of athletes from many sports. Rogerio said the team all seems really nice and very tall. I am sure and pray that Rogerio has the opportunity to visit with many athletes.

As for the kids and I we are home. The kids did get to go to practice this morning. There were about fifteen kids. Priscila was leading practice and I was hanging out with Rebeca. This afternoon they have been hanging out. I have finally got most of the house organized!! It is in the 70's here so nice to be outside and playing.

Timothy and I at Disneyland

Timothy and I got to go to Disneyland for the day while we were in California. I had not yet posted some pictures from our great day. In December we had volunteered with Disneys Give a day Get a day program so this day was free at Disneyland. We were there from 9 to 12am. We went on all the rides and had a great time. I think our favorites were Splash Mt and Indiana Jones. Timothy being the only child for the day got to buy popcorn and cotton candy small pleasures for a kid in a family of five!

This was one of our friends Alisha. She was haing a good time here with Timothy.

We had someone take our picture together but did not seem to turn out

Brazil vs N Korea

Did anyone watch any soccer games today??? Well all of Brazil stopped to watch their team play in the World Cup. This is the way of soccer in Brazil. All buisness closed for everyone to watch! Good that they won 2-1 next week will be the same until it is over. Brazilian expect their team to be in the finals and WIN. We watched the game here at home with four other girl that came over. More cleaning today. I worked in the bathroom. Tomrrow is the kitchen! The kids were gone all morning to practice so Rebeca and I got some things done. She was happy to stay with me as everyone headed out. I went on my first bike ride this afternoon through the sugar cane field.

Valentine's Day activity

Rebeca and I got to participate in the game on Saturday night. We had about 30 kids. This is Mateus. He is a great b-ball plaer who goes to our church. He is a sophmore and Rogerio woul love for him to get to go to college at a small school in the US.

Sunday at Church

We were gladly welcomed back by many friends at church Sunday morning. It was good to see everyone. We attend a Baptist hurch chere and it is very good. This morning was the day to honor the Pastor. Our pastor gave a serious sermon about his calling as a pastor. We did not make it to the second part of the Sunday school because we went to watch a basketball game to support one of the girls playing. One o the families here then had a BBQ for us at the house out in the country. It was very nice with delicious food. Neddless to say I did not get much cleaning done just put away our clothes in our room. Today is the big day to get lots done. I think all of us a more rested and ready to go.

Rebeca keeps calling for me when she does not see me. She says, "Mom." Then Rogerio did laugh and tell me she was calling everyone mom. Now that I am back she can call everyone by their names. She did hurt her foot yesterday and she wanted her dad. She is friends already with some of our friends because she has been seeing them.

I need to take some before and after pictures of this school room in our house. We'll see if we make any head way

Dia dos Anamorados (Valentine's Day)

We had our first activity with the kids tonight for this Valetine holiday. We had about 30 kids. We played basketball, ate pizza, and played some fun games. Priscila and Simone the girls that work with us did a great job with the kids. They are like Lindsay at Northlake who works with the Jr High. Our kids were very excited to see their friends.

Rogerio encouraged the kids on love and dating. A Biblical view.

We ate a great lunch with Rosalie and Bira, our director and wife.

Tomorrow we will be back at our church.

Back in Brazil

This morning I was running once again through the sugar cane field in Brazil. It is so amazing that one day you can be at the lake in Washington and then the next day in the middle of Brazil! As a family we are so thankful to all be back together.

We had a good trip everything went smoothly on our 24 hour adventure. The only really problem was that our flight to Braizl was delayed for two hours. All of our 12 bags made it with us so we are alway glad to watch them come down the ramp. There was another missionary family coming back they had about twice as many bags!!

Rebeca seems to remember us all coming of the airplane. She right away lifted her hands up to me to pick her up and then did not let me put her down. She was just laughing and so happy. She seems so good and Rogerio had so much fun with her. but glad to have us back to help take care of her. He is already off this morning getting some thing organized to have a activity with the kids tonight.

The house! Well if you could only see it. We have some cleaning and work to do but nothing a few days will not make a difference. Rogerio was able to do some but needed all of us to clean out everything.

We are already going to have lunch with our director's wife today. She make the best food and everything I learned about rice and beans was from her. We are all looking forward to that. The kids ate pizza last night and they were all excited they were waiting for that. WE got two larges and then we laughed because even Rebeca ate two pieces that did not leave much for Rogerio. He got to eat one and 1/2 pieces!

The kids seems all content to be back. We will all work to get the house back in working order and then get some stuff going. Rogerio will be gone for two weeks from June 17. He will be leading the AIA volleyball team in Rio de Janerio and Sao Paulo. The kids and I will do some other things. They are anxious to see their friends.

We are all so thankful for our time in Washington and seeing everyone. What a year we had. God is so good to us. Pictures to come and more updates as we get back into ministry here! Thank you everyone for praying God answered all your prayers

Jessica's team in the Ski to Sea

Jessica did the bike leg in the Jr Ski to Sea this year. She had a great time even though the three legged leg boys fell in their part of the race. We are glad they were okay and her team got to finish the race. What a great event for the kids and I can not believe I had never ben to it or participated in it all the years I was in Bellingham. You can see in this picture that grandma is there watching and cheering Jessica on.
